About

There are 37 national parks in Canada, and Banff, located in Alberta's Rocky Mountains, about an hour's drive west of Calgary, is the oldest, established in 1885. Banff covers ∼6,600 km2 (∼2,500 mi2) of mountains, glaciers, lakes, wildlife, and coniferous forests.

Remembering

My family and I, friends, and sometimes just myself, visit Banff each summer several times. We spend the entire day on Lake Minnewanka on the boat, fishing, relaxing in a quiet cove, and sometimes, we stay overnight. It's a way of relaxing, 'lightening' one's mind of the daily usual.
