The ocean of the world covers about 71% of Earth, and represent about 97% of all water on the planet. Without it, life as everyone knows it cannot exist! Yet, for all of humanity's technology and hubris, it is the least explored and understood environment in the solar system.
Few experiences compare to scuba diving or snorkeling the ocean's reefs in Maui, among my fondest memories, each experience, wondrous, unique. And, it makes me Think! Besides regulating the world's climate, nominally, the ocean absorbs ∼25% of CO2, and produces ∼50% of O2.
